chapter 29 section 2 guided reading: the triumphs of a crusade

1. What was the goal of the freedom riders?: the goal of the freedom riders was to provoke violent reactions so the kennedy administration would enforce the law.

2. What was the Kennedy administration’s response? the kennedy administration responded was to send over 400 U.S. to accompany these freedom riders on their trip to Montgomery.

3. What was the goal of the march on Washington?: the goal of the march on washington was support the civil rights bill.

4. Who attended the march? over 250000 people attended the march including Martin Luther King Jr.

5. What was the goal of the Freedom Summer project?: the goal of Freedom summer Project was to help blacks to gain voting rights

6. Who volunteered for the project?: mainly college kids vounteered for the project.

7. What role did the violence shown on television play in this march?: it helped to show others what the march was about.

8. What did the march encourage President Johnson to do?: to sign the civil rights act of 1964 which prohibited discrimination.

9. What did the Voting Rights Act outlaw? the voting rights act outlawed literacy tests for black voters

10. What did the law accomplish?: the law had risen the black voting percentage by 10 percent.
